Brokkestøylen rents out canoes for paddling in the interconnected Ivlungsvatna lakes. These lie on the banks of the first Ivlungsvatn next to the Suleskarroad, and paddles can be obtained at Brokkestøylen. From the road, it takes two hours to paddle to the innermost Ivlungsvatn. This is a great daytrip for the entire family, with only a couple of hundred meters canoe-carrying that mom and dad probably can take on. One passes a.o. Gunnarsheller, a primitive historic stone shelter.

Brokkestøylen has also put up a big laptent on an idyllic spot at the innermost Ivlungsvatn. The tent is practically equipped for comfortable wilderness camping, with a.o. a wooden floor, wood oven, some blankets, gasstove and kitchen utensils. For those wishing to camp elsewhere, we also rent smaller five-person laptents.

New in 2009! Paddle on to the tourist hut Gaukhei almost without carrying! Gaukhei is DNT's only full-serviced cabin in the Setesdal Vesthei nature reserve - here you'll enjoy good food and shelter in a cosy setting. In cooperation with DNT it is now possible to leave Brokkestøylen's canoes behind at the very southern end of the Ivlungsvatn, then walk half an hour to the northern shore of Monsvatn where you'll find DNT's canoes at your disposal. Monsvatn is an exciting lake with many narrow passages, islands and holms.

The entire canoe trip to the Gaukhei cabin takes 1,5 - 2 days. You can also walk to Gaukhei first and paddle back! We suggest you lay over in the laptent of Brokkestøylen or a small tent on the shores of Monsvatn. This trip can be ordered at Brokkestøylen or DNT.
